Cathod is a web T.V. startup based out of West Los Angeles. Their main focus is to unite different internet video sources (Hulu, YouTube, Vimeo, Crackle, etc.) creating a viewing platform similar to cable but online and without the cost associated. Cathod hired us to develop their brand and marketing assets. We went in a retro futurist / mid century modern direction for the brand of Cathod. This was to hearken back to the beginnings of television in the 50’s, inciting nostalgia, and to separate the company from the Apple-esque and Pinterest-esque style used by Cathod’s competitors in the Web T.V. sector.
For the logo we created a scalable and iconic mark that played off Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) T.V.s from which the company got its name, and built a custom logotype that matched in style and would propel the brand forward.
We are also working on a complete overhaul of their user interface.
